Haiti Trip + Sustainable Haiti Conference Apr 4-6 Miami

Haiti Trip, March 24-April 2

Sustainable Haiti Conference, April 4-6, Miami

In brief:
  • The Coalition is leading a small delegation to Haiti on March 24 to scout locations and opportunities for sustainable innovation and entrepreneurship. Let us know if you want to contribute ideas, contacts, locations, etc. or have requests for information from us.

Our Trip to Haiti on March 24

Coalition Co-Founder Jonathan Cloud, along with colleagues Matt and Sandy Polsky, is headed to Haiti on March 24. Our intention is to visit as many Coalition member projects and sites as possible, and to identify collaborative social enterprise opportunities. We are representing two members of our Founders Circle and Leadership Council — Apparel for Life and Atlantis Energy Systems — seeking to establish fabrication facilities in Haiti as soon as they can. We will also be looking for information relevant to bringing an expanded mountain-biking and voluntourism program, the development of a sustainable beach property near Les Cayes, and opportunities in food production, community leadership, entrepreneurship, and education.

We invite you to email us if you can offer contacts, or have requests or suggestions for us.

Join us for the Sustainable Haiti Conference in Miami

Right after our trip, we’ll be joined by Co-Founder Doug Cohen, along with John Engle and Benaja Antoine of Haiti Partners and others, to present at the Sustainable Haiti Conference in Miami. Our session will focus on current efforts to strengthen the social and business fabric of the Haitian community through teacher training and other advances in education; participative leadership training of community organizers, featuring Haiti Parnters role in delivering the USAID endorsed Civic Empowerment  training and the Sustainble Haiti Coalitions efforts to launch sustainable social and business enterprises throughout the country. Case examples and proven methods of professional and sustainable economic development will be featured. The overall goal of these efforts is the create conditions to strengthen local economies and support and grow the human potential in Haiti. But check out also the entire agenda for the Conference, and get a 20% discount on registration (and take advantage of Early Bird Pricing until March 16) by letting us know you’re coming.

Thanks, Doug Cohen & Jonathan Cloud, on behalf of the Coalition
