We’ve launched a Business to Business – Market Place forum called REBUILD HAITI BETTER where International Firms, Designers, Architects, Engineers, Manufacturers, Consultants, Service Providers and others can get together to network, share ideas, create partnerships with Haitian firms.
As of now, we have more than 130 firms representing 24 different countries (Australia, Belgium, Canada, Columbia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, France, Germany, Great Britain, Haiti, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Panama, Puerto Rico, Scotland, South Africa, Thailand, Turkey, Turks and Caicos Islands, UK, USA, Venezuela.) and the list is growing. We will send you an invitation shortly.
Please join us in welcoming the International Community. Together, let’s Rebuild Haiti Smarter, Better. One Community at a Time.

In light of the resent Georgia Tech data (see link) and the non-sustainability of the current concrete production processes, I wonder if this coalition is planing to become outspoken concerning the practice of mixing cement on the ground by eye and with shovels?
Concrete foundations are required for building, even if you feel that the worldwide cement production process does not fit in within your social views. I assume that your group rejects the notion that mixing with shovels is “Culturally acceptable” and is therefore OK?
If your organization has any influence, then I would ask that you use it to change the way that the poor make cement products. This requires action now, not after much of the reconstruction has begun.
I would ask if you live upon a concrete foundation with a PSI measurement as low as 800 pounds per square inch? I would suggest not… Then do something to raise Haiti up closer to the standard that we all accept; a sustainable and acceptable level that is set at more than 3000 PSI.
Here is a link to the Georgia Tech study directed by a Haitian-born engineer. The details are on page 24.

Haiti Eco Living Project
After we finish up our prototype demo at grass roots compound in late January, we are taking what we learned from that and what we have absorbed from our time spent
with the Haitian people and attempting to move forward with the project presented in this video.

I have read and printed the 12 page Hugh O Scott report re Haiti’s economic and resources future as well as its checkered past.
I have a very well educated Haiti University friend with 6 years including heavily in core curriculum and Bus. Admin, who I am afraid is influenced by heresay and holds an admiration for Cuba and Fidel and regime. She holds the opinion that the US and Haitian govts enter into a contract for theUS to exclusively mine underground resources without paying Haiti. Would you please verify the authenticity of the resourses nonsence which I discovered . from the above.
